The client

The event was aimed at environmentally conscious individuals and families of all ages who care about preserving the local ecosystem and want to make a positive impact on their community.

Paddle for Planet had several important objectives:

  • Celebrate World Environment Day: Raise awareness about the importance of protecting the natural environment and reducing plastic pollution, especially in bodies of water like rivers and oceans.
  • Encourage participation in outdoor activities promoting physical fitness and well-being, such as kayaking and paddleboarding.
  • Foster a sense of community and collaboration among participants by working together to clean up the river and share their experiences.
  • Provide an opportunity for families to enjoy a fun and pleasant day on the Vltava River in Prague while appreciating the beautiful landscape.

The project

The event kicked off at 11:00 at the Kayak Beach Bar, where a welcome desk was set up to greet participants and distribute welcome packs. These packs included Sportmadness-branded bags containing bibs, hand flags, environmentally friendly gloves, and garbage bags. Trash grabbers were provided for those who wished to participate in the "plogging" walk to collect trash, and trash nets were ready for those who wanted to take part in water activities. An activity for children, led by a Montessori teacher, allowed them to separate garbage, create posters, and learn about environmental awareness. All necessary equipment for kayaking, paddleboarding, and "plogging" on foot was provided.

After the welcome session, children and some parents embarked on a 30-minute "plogging" walk along the Naplavka Promenade along the banks of the Vltava River. Later, participants sailed on the river with kayaks and paddleboards for the river clean-up activity. This river activity lasted about an hour, and participants boarded the platform at the Kayak Beach Bar to dispose of the collected garbage at the designated waste separation station. Finally, participants had time to relax and enjoy the club, which featured a DJ, a bar, and a food stand.
